Four of our local volunteers met with the kids at Freckles Daycare to show them what the SES does. It was a morning of education with some flashing lights thrown in for fun. The kids got to try on helmets and learnt about safety in the SES. Then they assisted the volunteers to strap a dummy into a stretcher and lift it up to carry the “casualty” off to get medical attention, thereby learning that the SES assists on missing person searches and cliff rescue. We also showed them some of the different vehicles we use while taking off to assist on storm damage or cyclones. Finally they got to keep some stickers and colouring in booklets that show them other things the SES deals with including floods, earthquakes and tsunamis.
Thanks to Freckles Daycare for hosting us today!
