Recently it was made formal that Regional Operations Support Section (R.O.S.S.) were to now call Swan SES home.
Previously located at the DFES Leake St premises, they had to move due to the old Bunker being refurbished and now to be used as a simulation facility for training of DFES staff and Volunteers for major incidents. In the past this had to be done between operational times, and now the main operational facility is now located at Cockburn at the Metropolitan Operations Centre it was the perfect opportunity.
So in short Swan SES would like to welcome the members of R.O.S.S. to our unit, and feel part and one now. Considering for a long time R.O.S.S. were in limbo as to where they would be located, we are sure they are now grateful to have a home again.
In the meantime this merger has meant Swan SES has now got some extra very experienced members to add to it’s capability. Currently until a formal decision is made – Swan SES is now also housing the SES Incident Control Vehicle (ICV) as used by R.O.S.S. for major incidents. Once again this means as a unit our capability has been increased, which is a great thing for the local community.
