On 27th February 2013, Swan SES were called upon to provide support for a recent fire that threatened The Vines and Ellenbrook. Parts of the suburbs were evacuated as housing was under direct threat from this bushfire that was thought to be started by a cigarette butt discarded on Great Northern Highway.
Our members assisted in roles such as staging for the incident control point, crew changes for exhausted Fire Fighters, logistical and administration support for the Incident Management Team including providing a lighting tower and scribe positions.
This shows the community that we not only assist in storms damage, searches and other natural hazards but have a large role in local bushfire incidents.
