Swan SES organised an open day on 10/2/13 which despite the hot weather was a great success. Being a shared emergency services facility we invited the Swan Bushfire Communications Brigade who share the facility with us, as well as St Johns Ambulance, East and West Swan, Bullsbrook and Gidgegannup Bushfire Brigades.
We had a visit from the local traffic enforcement police, who supported our fundraising efforts by buying a sausage sizzle. Michelle Roberts MLA for Midland also dropped in to continue her on going support for the unit.
The highlight of the day was on the fun side of things, with a slippery slide competition between the BFB and SES members. A role of black plastic and a light tanker to supply the water and a couple of bottles of dishwashing detergent proved we work hard and play hard.
We will be looking at doing another open day around the middle of the year, once again combining all local emergency services.
