Bush Fire Brigade and State Emergency Service members had the opportunity on Saturday 8th June and Sunday 9th June to participate in the Bush Fire Fighting and Introduction to Fire Fighting courses.

These courses provided participants with information regarding:

  • Team work and safety
  • Basic fire theory
  • Incident command and control
  • Radio communications
  • Usage and maintenance of equipment
  • Bush fire behaviour
  • Bush fire suppression
  • Map reading
  • Bush fire safety awareness
  • Use of hand tools

The courses included written and practical assessments highlighting the importance of being safe and working efficiently. Hands-on activities included setting up a standpipe in a fire hydrant, running hoses and practicing drafting. Members involved found the course interesting and practical.
