Members from Midland 1st Scout Group visited Swan SES Emergency Services Facility for a tour and to speak with volunteers.
Rescue Section Leader Gary, and Training Manager Shelley were on hand to answer the scouts’ numerous questions on knots, rescue equipment, discuss the many uses of duct-tape, and review Swan SES’s plan for surviving the zombie apocalypse (operating procedure pending).
In turn, the SES team showed the scouts the ropes (literally!) by giving the boys and girls a practical demonstration on using a roof safety system on the unit’s training roof.
The visit included a slideshow presentation of SES community events and call-outs Swan SES have been involved with… including photos of a car accident in Gary’s backyard!
The event proved to be a great success and we are hoping to plan joint-training exercises with the team in the future.
